A Lima city official has been indicted by an Allen County Grand Jury for theft.
An investigation by the state auditor's office has led to the indictment of Sue Barnett. Barnett is charged with six different counts including theft in the office and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity. Of the six counts, five are felonies of the third degree and one is a felony of the first degree. Barnett served as the deputy clerk in the Lima Municipal Clerk of Courts Office, Civil Division.
The Allen County Prosecutor's Office said the theft happened from January 1997 to May 2012. The alleged amount stolen is somewhere between 100 thousand and 500 thousand dollars.
