In March, 21 year old Cory Jackson was found guilty by a jury for the murder of Amari Gooding and the aggravated robbery of Trey Ackles. On Wednesday, Jackson was sentenced to a total of 30 years to life in prison.
Jackson's charges break down to 18 years to life for murder with a firearm specification. Added to that is 12 years for the aggravated robbery with a firearm specification.
"Foremost, I want to apologize to the family of Amari," Jackson said. "Just let them know I’m sorry for the situation itself. My thoughts and prayers are with them. I want to apologize to my family for bringing the situation upon us. I know just as much it hurts me it hurts them."
