LIMA — A Lima man on Tuesday entered a guilty plea to a reduced charge of attempted felonious assault in connection with an incident earlier this year that left a local man seriously injured.
Nathan Johnson, 33, appeared in Allen County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday morning to enter a guilty plea to the third-degree felony. He was indicted in July by a grand jury on a charge of felonious assault, a second-degree felony, for knowingly causing serious physical harm to Rico D. Williams on May 20.
Johnson had pleaded not guilty to the charge, and a jury trial was scheduled to start Tuesday. The defendant’s attorney, Athena Nyers, contacted the court last week to indicate her client’s desire to accept a plea agreement from prosecutors.
