LIMA — A 54-year-old man made an impassioned speech proclaiming his innocence before a judge sentenced him to 30 years in prison for raping two women more than 10 years ago.
Judge Jeffrey Reed sentenced Walter Robinson to serve 10 years for each count of rape during a sentencing hearing Thursday in Allen County Common Pleas Court. With three counts, Robinson’s sentence equated to a 30-year prison term, which is to be served consecutively. Robinson will get credit for time served, meaning the last 499 days he has spent in jail will be taken off his sentence.
Robinson is also required to register as a tier 3 sex offender and must register his place of residence and employment every 90 days for the rest of his life. He declined to sign an acknowledgement form recognizing his sex offender status. He will also be under post-release control for five years after he is released from prison.
