LIMA — The driver of the pickup truck involved in an accident that claimed the lives of two Elida students in August is no longer contesting the two counts of vehicular homicide that stemmed from that crash.
At Allen County Juvenile Court on Monday, with his parents by his side, Lawrence Slygh entered a plea of no contest to the two first-degree misdemeanor charges related to the deaths of Drew Dulebohn, 15, and Jakob Sexton, 15. Slygh had entered a not guilty plea in February.
According to Judge Glenn Derryberry of Allen County Juvenile Court, a plea of no contest means that Slygh would not be admitting guilt but would not dispute the facts related to the charges against him. Derryberry also said this plea could not be used in any civil proceedings related to this incident.
